CLASS DESCRIPTION
Based on the idea that technique is an embodied understanding of physics, this contemporary modern class combines anatomically based movement principles with sweeping suspensions, musicality and intelligent athleticism. Class begins with a deep, progressive warm up, involving floor-work, inversions and standing exercises, and culminates with a high-energy phrase. Dancers are invited to take risks, seek off center, and to develop artistry through experimentation.
REPERTORY WORKSHOP
The repertory workshop is an opportunity for students to delve more deeply into Trainor Dance repertory and perform it informally. This one or two week long intensive hones both learning and performance skills, as dancers are challenged to learn material rapidly and form an artistic point of view within a limited time period. The workshop culminates in an informal studio performance open to family, friends, and community.
LECTURE DEMONSTRATION
A TD lecture demonstration is an opportunity to go behind the scenes with the company and learn what is behind the magic of making dances. A great way to develop a deeper understanding of choreography and performance, a lecture demonstration can be tailored to the needs of the community. Topics to be discussed include: manifesting artistic intent through movement, the mechanics of creation, the role of dancers in movement generation, and the use of music. Dancers will illustrate ideas physically, and occasionally the audience will be asked to participate. Following an informal mini-performance, the event finishes with a Q&A session.
